Well, we’ve made it to the second half of the decade. If you missed the first half, you can read about it here. The first five years of the 2010 decade sure was memorable, but the second half, it turns out, was about to become even more memorable. Let’s rewind.
Decade in Review: Part II
2015: Let’s Have Some Fun
2015 started off shaky after I was in a car accident to end 2014. My car was totaled and I was scared to drive. Needless to say, I didn’t even want to purchase a new car. Thankfully, I had an amazing support system who had my back. They encouraged me to drive again, without forcing me. When the time was right, the time was right.
Summer started the trend of weddings. 2015 saw three of my closest friends get married, and I was lucky enough to be in one of them. Those weren’t the only happy endings. On our annual trip to Longwood Gardens, A proposed to me. A made note over the years and everything was perfect…my nails were done and a friend followed us around so the moment could be captured in photos. He also proposed in the spot that a few years back mentioned would be the perfect location for a proposal.
2016: It’s a Small World After All
This year I got to return to one of my favorite places on Earth, the Happiest Place on Earth…Disney! What made it even better was A came along with my parents and I. During this trip while we were resort hopping the decision to come back here for your 5 year wedding anniversary and stay at Wildnerness Lodge was made.
My three closest friends, who I consider sisters, all got married this year. I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid in two of them.
2017: Happily Ever After
My happily ever after came in 2017 – A and I got married. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day surrounding by family and friends in Phillies jerseys. The stress leading up to it was worth it. We also got to celebrate another friends wedding a month before ours. 2015-2017 is summarized in one word: weddings.
This year also saw the start of the baby boom. My best friend saw the birth of her first daughter (my God-daughter) and the announcement by several other friends they were pregnant.
2018: Babies and Loss
If 2015-2017 is summed up by weddings, the next few years are summed up by babies. All of my friends who announced pregnancies in 2018 were blessed with beautiful healthy babies in 2018. It’s amazing watching them all grow up now.
A and I also took our honeymoon in 2018. This was the first time we had both been out of the country. I must say, Antigua was the perfect choice. Beautiful beaches, a rich history and amazing people. I would love to go back one day.
As much as I loved 2018, the year ended on such a sad note. Five days after saying goodnight to my uncle who was visiting, and four days before Christmas, my uncle unexpectedly past away. Over a year later, I am still struggling with it.
2019: The End of the Decade
Well, we reached the final year of the decade. This year was marked by death. It seems like every month I was going to a viewing or funeral. A and I did a little traveling when we did a long weekend to Virginia for my uncle’s memorial service. We got to see friends and new Love signs.
Unfortunately, our tropical vacation to Hawaii was postponed. I was excited to share some of my favorite locations with A, but that will just have to wait. Overall, 2019 and the rest of the decade was an adventure.
I don’t know what’s in store for the next ten years, however, I do know 2020 will be an adventure since A and I just booked our flights for Poland!
